'Jennylyn Mercado' accuses Trillo of abuse: report

Jennylyn Mercado has accused her former boyfriend, actor Dennis Trillo, of verbally and physically hurting her, resulting in their break-up in March of this year, "The Buzz" reported Sunday.

In her tell-all interview with "YES!" magazine, Mercado narrated how she was physically mishandled by Trillo on the night of March 5 at the actor’s condo unit in Mandaluyong City.

She said what started out as a petty argument developed into a full-blown fight wherein Trillo had hurled expletives and insults at her. According to the actress, Trillo repeatedly called her stupid.

She said when she slapped him, Trillo grabbed her and pulled her toward the sliding glass door and then threw her downstairs. She said her hip hit the floor but the actor did not attempt to help her.

She said she left the place after the incident.

When sought for reaction, Trillo sent this message to "Yes!" magazine: "I choose not to speak because there is nothing to speak about. The truth is my relationship with Jen just didn't work out."

Days following their break-up, Mercado took a special interest in Japanese martial art jujitsu. Many suspect that this is because of the incident with Trillo.

In her earlier interview, Mercado admitted she is learning jujitsu for self-defense.

She met Luis Manzano, whom she is now dating, in one of her classes.

Karylle takes lead role in new musical show

Actress-singer Karylle Tatlonghari is now the lead star of Asian series titled "The Kitchen Musical."

In an interview during the press conference on Monday for the said series, Karylle clarified reports that the series is patterned after US hit musical series "Glee."

"There was a time in the world that musical was the format of movie, that was actually different kinds of movies kunwari West Side Story was a musical, Annie was a musical maraming ganon dati it's just that ngayon ay hindi na kasi siya uso. Kaya the other musical that you can compare it with is Glee," Karylle said.

Karylle, whose first acting role was "Little Mermaid" in 2000, said that she's happy that musical shows is finally back and being embraced by viewers.

"Well of course we are happy that this kind of format is back, like the same way that reality TV is a format, the same way that cooking show is also different format, parang genre kumbaga," Karylle said.

On Sunday, she will leave the country and will stay in Singapore for 4 months to do "The Kitchen Musical," the first ever pan-Asian television musical drama series.

The series is an original production by The Group Entertainment and it is set to launch in the country on Studio 23 and in 19 countries across Asia this October.

"The Kitchen Musical" will be served in 13 one-hour episodes and will tell the story of a rich girl fresh out of culinary school in Paris who embarks on a journey of self-discovery when she starts working for the Avilon, her father's restaurant.

In the show, Karylle will play the lead female character Madeline.

Also part of the Asian show are Filipino artists Ikey Canoy, Thou Reyes, and Christian Bautista.

Bye Showtime

In the interview, Karylle also expressed that she will miss her hosting job for ABS-CBN's "Showtime."

"They are so sweet talaga. Sobra akong overwhelmed sa sweetness. I was able to talk to them pero hindi ako nakapag ba-bye talaga," Karylle said adding: "Mami-miss ko talaga kasi iba ang bonding doon unlike other shows kami we are there from start to finish, kami nandoon nagkukuwentuhan kami, parang school yung masyado ka ng attached sa kanila," she said.

Karylle said that she will definitely bid goodbye to her "Showtime" family before flying to Singapore.

Star Power grand winner Angeline Quinto is the newest voice of DZMM Radyo Patrol Sais Trenta's jingle for the year.

In an interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com, Quinto said that she's really honored to record the jingle of the country's leading AM station.

"Opo talagang nagulat din po ako nang malaman kong kami ni kuya Eric ang kakanta ng jingle ng DZMM,"

Quinto sang the jingle alongside balladeer Eric Santos. The two were accompanied by Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra and UP Concert Chorus.

"Sobrang pasasalamat po talaga ako sa kanila, kasi ang DZMM ay kinalikahan ko na yan. Kaya sabi ko sana ay mas marami pa kayong mapaglingkuran na mga kababayan natin," she said.

The "ASAP Rocks" performer also said she feels like she was reporting news while recording the station's theme song, which will be aired on June 12.

Meanwhile, Quinto also shared her excitement with her version of hit song "Mahiwaga."

"Mahiwaga," originally written by Don Manolo Villar, is the theme song of ABS-CBN's hit series "100 Days to Heaven." It was originally recorded by Marian devotee Fatima Soriano.

Quinto is set to have her first major concert this July.

An excited Angel Locsin arrived at Los Angeles International Airport Thursday night, stopping to take pictures with fans.

Locsin is set to attend the North American premier of her new movie “In the Name of Love. “

“I'm very excited kasi after two years, ngayon lang ako nakabalik ng States ulit. And I'm excited to meet our kababayans. Finally, mapapalabas na natin ‘yong ‘In the Name of Love’ dito sa US,” Locsin said.

Actress Angel Locsin preferred to keep her silence about the news that former boyfriend Luis Manzano is now dating actress Jennylyn Mercado.

Sarah Geronimo admitted she is taking glutathione orally to achieve a pinky-white complexion.

It an official statement, Star Cinema stressed that the film outfit has nothing against the singer.

"The issue pitting Star Cinema against Sarah Geronimo is not true. A new movie project for her this year is in development already and another one set for 2012," the company said.

During a photo shoot for her Belo Essentials endorsement project, Geronimo told abs-cbnNEWS.com that she is set to do a single with Charice.

"Nasa planning stage pa lang siya and I'm hoping na matuloy kasi international pop sensation si Charice," Geronimo said.

Charice Pempengco criticized for gaining weight

When international singing sensation Charice performed an original song on the season finale of "Glee" on Tuesday (Wednesday in Manila), Twitterverse was abuzz not just about her powerful performance, but also about her weight.

On the TV show, Charice, as Sunshine Corazon, performed "As Long As You're There" after her reconciliation with the show's lead character, Rachel Berry (Lea Michele).

But aside from her powerful production number, people could not help but notice that Charice is gaining weight.

It became obvious especially when she put her hair up and wore a fitted blue dress.

Melissa Sirois said that she sees nothing wrong even if Charice weighs 200 lbs.

"Regardless of how people reacted on our dear Charice’s physical attributes, it doesnt affect any at all her performance and appearance on the said episodes but instead my admiration and excitement heated up and level up way way high!!!" netizen Chris said.

Others, however, were not too kind, with some calling on her to watch her weight.

International singer Lea Salonga turned down the idea to perform "Listen" with international singing sensation Charice.

Salonga made the statement in response to a viewer's question if she would be willing to perform "Listen" with Charice.

Uson said that aside from sexually transmitted diseases (STD), the incidence of teenage pregnancy in the country is increasing. She said that she gets a lot of emails asking her about sex, which only means that the youth are not getting proper education when it comes to sex.

"Mayroon akong sex blog so marami akong natatanggap na emails from teenagers asking about sex, safe sex. Doon ko na-realize na kailangan ng effective sex education sa mga school. Kasi nga walang gumagabay sa kanila. Sa bahay hindi pinag-uusapan. Sa school hindi din, so naghahanap sila ng information sa labas," the singer explained.

To show her support for the RH bill, Uson and her group joined tricycle drivers and pro-RH bill advocates like Davao Rep. Marc Cagas on Tuesday morning in giving away condoms and purple ballers with the words "I Love Sex Education". They gave these away to the people around Batasang Pambansa complex in Quezon City.

Asked for her reaction to the critics who see her move to support the RH bill as a mere publicity gimmick, Uson replied: "Gusto kong magkaroon ng contribution kasi naniniwala ako sa sex education. So I love sex. Sex exists with or without RH bill."

Mocha is not the only celebrity who has taken a stand on the RH Bill.

Before Mocha, international singer Lea Salonga vocally expressed her support for the bill.

One of the anti-RH bill advocates, on the other hand, is boxing champ and Saranggani Rep. Manny Pacquiao.

Uson admitted that she is a fan of Pacquiao, but added that when it comes to the country's problem, Pacquiao should use his head.

"Kumbaga idol ko sa Pacman. Champion of the world. Sana maging champion din siya ng mahihirap. Kasi ang RH bill kailangan ng mahihirap ‘yan. Sana maging champion of the poor siya at ipaglaban niya ang mahirap,” Uson said.

Jinkee Pacquiao: I took contraceptives without Manny knowing it

Jinkee Pacquiao, the wife of eight-division world boxing champion and Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao, on Wednesday confirmed that she has taken contraceptives in the past without her husband knowing it.

In an exclusive interview aired over GMA News’ “24 Oras," Jinkee said she would not have used the birth control pills if she knew that Manny, who is opposed to the Reproductive Health (RH) bill now pending in Congress, was against it.

“Gumamit ako [ng pills] na hindi alam ni Manny. Kung hindi naman pala siya payag na magpills ako, hindi ko na ginawa," she said.

Jinkee, who has four children with Manny, said she used contraceptives even before the bill became the subject of a wide-ranging, acrimonious debate. The proposed measure allows government-funded access to contraceptives.

Jinkee, who was previously quoted as saying that four is enough, now says she does not have a problem with getting pregnant again. “It is a blessing, so kung magbubuntis magpapasalamat na lang ako sa Panginoon na binigyan pa ako ng isa pang anak," she said.

Manny, a Catholic often shown on television praying and attending Mass, said the provisions of the bill go against the Bible. Some pro-RH advocates accused him of hypocrisy after reports came out that Jinkee admitted that she had taken birth control pills.

The Catholic Church is opposed to the bill and is trying to block its passage in Congress. On Wednesday, an anti-RH bill website was even launched by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP).

Bianca King finally lands a lead role

Sa loob ng pitong taon ng pagtatrabaho ni Bianca King sa GMA-7, pawang supporting at kontrabida roles ang ibinibigay sa kanya.

Kaya naman ikinagulat ng aktres nang sabihan siya na magiging bida na siya sa upcoming afternoon drama series ng Kapuso network, ang Sentensyada.

Sa phone-patch interview kay Bianca ng Tweetbiz Insiders sa GMA News TV Channel 11 nitong Martes ng gabi, May 24, ikinuwento niya kung paano niya nalaman ang magandang balita.

"Actually, hindi ko talaga siya ine-expect," sambit ni Bianca.

"Kasi talagang yung utak ko ay nasa Captain Barbell pa.

"And I just got a call nung Thursday [May 19], sabi pa lang sa akin, tsismis pa lang daw at hindi pa sure.

"So, sabi ko, okay let's just see na lang muna.

"And then, pagkatapos nung call na yun, nakuha ko na yung text from Ms. Annette [Gozon, GMA Films president] and Tita Ida [Henares, GMA Artist Center head] congratulating me for the role.

"So, sabi ko, mukhang sure na yata ito. Pero I really couldn't believe it.

"Hindi talaga matanggal yung smile sa mukha ko."

Sa ngayon daw ay hindi pa alam ni Bianca kung ano na ang mangyayari sa kanyang role sa Captain Barbell.

Ginagampanan niya kasi sa naturang telefantasya, na pinagbibidahan ni Richard Gutierrez, ang role ni Lary, na tumutulong kay Captain Barbell para i-train ang superheroes ng Liga ng Kalayaan.

Original story ba ang Sentensyada?

"It's an original story,' sagot ni Bianca.

"Very, very heavy drama, at saka yung character ko dito, complete opposite siya ng kahit anong character that I've portrayed before.

"Challenging siya kasi finally maipapakita ko yung medyo madramang side ng aking acting."

Ano ang role niya rito?

"Physically abused character. Tapos hindi ako pinag-aral ng aking tito at tita.

"So, malaking challenge siya for me kung paano i-portray siya na maniniwala at magiging affected ang mga tao.

"Pero in preparation, I'm gonna put myself through workshop," sabi ng Kapuso actress.

Ano naman ang wish niya para sa kanyang kauna-unahang pagbibida sa telebisyon?

"I really hope that lahat ng mga fans, everyone will support my first lead role, Sentensyada.

"I promise na gagawin ko talaga lahat para maging maganda itong show na ito."

Nakapag-story conference at nag-pictorial na raw sila last Friday, May 20.

Magiging leading man ni Bianca sa Sentensyada si Dennis Trillo, at gaganap naman bilang kontrabida ang nagbabalik-Kapuso na si Alessandra de Rossi.

Unang in-offer ang role ni Bianca kay Iza Calzado. Pero dahil sa schedule problems ay hindi ito tinanggap ni Iza at napunta nga kay Bianca.

"Kapag nakakausap ako ng tao, sinasabi ko, parang mas pangit na ite-take ko ng bad yun.

"Kumbaga, ginagawa ko siya, tine-take ko siya as challenge.

"Dahil naunahan ako ng ganito—sisirain ko? or ayoko na dahil masyado akong napag-iiwanan? Hindi po kasi ganoon ang nasa isip ko.

IS SHE WILLING TO GO SEXY? May pagka-sexy ang tema ng Sisid na pinagbibidahan ni Jackie Rice.

Kung dumating ang time na si Ynna naman ang ilu-launch, pero kailangan din niyang magpa-sexy, papayag ba siya?

"Sa totoo lang, I'm not sure rin naman po na lahat ng artista na gustong ma-launch, e, kailangang magpa-sexy," sabi ng dalaga.

"Maraming puwedeng paraan para ma-launch ka.

"Siguro kung sexy, kagaya rin ng ginawa kay Jackie, wholesome pa rin.

"Hindi siya yung super sexy talaga.

"Okay lang po sa akin, pero kailangan na mai-ready rin po at saka yung katawan ko," sabi niya.

Sa palagay ba niya ay papayag ang parents niya at ang boyfriend niyang si Mark Herras?

"I don't think na okay sa daddy ko. Malamang na long process yun.

"Si Mark, siyempre, hindi rin. Para siyang tatay ko!" natatawa niyang sabi.

"Pero kami po kasi ni Mark, kami yung tipong pagdating sa trabaho, nakasuporta kami pareho.

"Kung anuman 'yan, kung loveteam or ano, kailangan naming suportahan. Ayoko rin naman po."

DEFENDING HERSELF. Pagkatapos nito ay inihayag ni Ynna ang kanyang damdamin tungkol sa intrigang siya ang dahilan kung bakit walang naibibigay na proyekto ngayon kay Mark.

"Hindi ko rin naman puwedeng sabihin ang dahilan kung bakit natatagalan ang trabaho niya.

"So, di ba, wala silang alam?

"So, sana huwag nilang isisi sa akin ang mga ganoon dahil, malamang, kapag nakita na nila ang danceserye, malalaman din nila na nagre-ready rin siya physically at marami pang bagay na inaayos para sa show niya.

"So, sana po, tigilan na nila."

Ang tinutukoy ni Jennylyn ay ang danceserye na gagawin ni Mark sa GMA-7.

Kung susuriin ang mga salita ni Ynna, halatang naapektuhan siya sa mga ganoong isyu na naibabato sa kanya.

Iniiyakan ba niya ang mga ganoong intriga?

"Hindi naman," sagot niya.

"Pero siyempre, masakit para sa akin.

"Yun nga, from the start, ang ginawa ko, suportahan siya sa lahat.

"Ibinalik ang loveteam nila ni Jen [Jennylyn Mercado], nakasuporta ako.

"Ibalik ang loveteam niya with Heart Evangelista...

"So, bakit ako gagawa ng bagay para bumagsak siya?

"May lalabas na ganito, hindi ko alam saan galing. So, nagulat ako.

"Hindi ko alam yun. Nakita siguro sa interview na parang, 'Huh, hindi ko alam.'

"Pero after ng interview na yun, nilapitan ko si Mark, tinanong ko sa kanya kung totoo bang nagte-text ulit si Jen.

"Kaya sinabi ko rin naman sa interview na kahit naman noong time na may boyfriend si Jennylyn, at naghiwalay sila, meron naman talaga silang contact number.

"Wala naman ako sa posisyon para ipa-erase yun dahil magkaibigan naman sila ni Jen.

"At saka, ang tagal na no'n."

Si Mark daw kasi ang madalas na shoulder-to-cry-on ni Jennylyn kahit noong nag-break ang young actress at si Patrick Garcia.

Maaaring dahil doon kaya noong sina Jennylyn at Dennis Trillo naman ang nag-break, may lumabas na ganoong isyu.

Pero ayon kay Ynna, "Wala, e. Sinabi ko pa nga kay Mark, sabihin mo sa akin ang totoo kung talaga namang nagte-text.

"Pero sabi niya, hindi nga, hindi raw talaga sa kanya nagte-text.

"And naniniwala naman ako sa kanya dahil palagi ko naman siyang kasama."

Kung sakaling meron nga, okay lang ba sa kanya?

"Okay lang," sagot niya.

"Pero tulad nga ng sabi ko sa interview, alam nila ang limitasyon nila.

"Ewan ko na lang kay Mark kung gagawa pa siya ng mali para magkagulo kami at ng pamilya ko, di ba?

"Siya na rin mismo ang nagsasabi na wala na siyang kailangang gawin or kalokohang gagawin para masira.

"Siguro naman, yung three years na relasyon namin, parang hindi na rin worth it na sirain pa."

Angel Locsin won't work with Phil Younghusband

Actress Angel Locsin turned down the idea to do an acting project with rumored boyfriend, Azkals' heartthrob Phil Younghusband.

"Sa movie? I don't think so kasi hindi naman artista si Phil. Football player talaga siya. Kung sa iba pang project, pag-iisipan," Locsin said.

The actress made the statement in response to a viewer's question if she would be willing to work with Younghusband.

Is former Kapamilya singer Rachelle Ann Go jealous of "Happy Yipee Yehey!" (HYY) host Bianca Manalo?

Rumor has it that Go's boyfriend, dancer-actor John Prats, seems to be enjoying the company of his HYY co-host, Manalo, after actress-host Mariel Rodriguez posted a photo of the two celebrities on the microblogging site Twitter.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Go clarified that she is not affected by the said rumor.

When asked if she is the jealous-type of girlfriend, Go quickly replied: “Ako siguro, nasa lugar... Siya (Prats) naman kasi sine-secure niya ako. Ina-assure niya na ako lang and nakikita ko naman ‘yung sinseridad niya at nararamdaman ko ‘yun.”

Meantime, Go revealed what she liked most about her boyfriend.

"Sobrang bait at 'yun nga, 'yung sincerity mararamdaman mo talaga. And alam mong hindi ka niya lolokohin," she said.

Contrary to earlier reports saying that the two have called it quits, Go said: "Hindi totoo. Napag-uusapan namin lahat. Shine-share namin lahat... Sobrang close siya sa family ko, sa mga kapatid ko. Kahit wala ako sa bahay, kung pupunta siya dun, hindi ako magwo-worry."

Go is also grateful that her boyfriend's family has been good to her. "Sobrang pasasalamat ko na ganun sila. Sobrang nararamdaman ko 'yung love nila (Prats family). Nakakatuwa, sobra," she ended.
