Local Celebrities Express Sadness Over Japan's Tsunami


Local celebrities expressed sadness over the calamity brought by the tsunami that hit Japan Friday afternoon after a magnitude 8.9 earthquake.

Stars tweeted their concerns and prayers for all the people in Japan and gave warnings to their fans via their Twitter accounts.

Angel Locsin retweeted a link of the news about Japan's tsunami, while TV Patrol's weather reporter Kim Atienza said tsunami warnings were up for all Pacific Coast countries.

"RT @cnnbrk: Massive quake hits Japan, tsunami warnings issued http://on.cnn.com/dH438i," Locsin tweeted.

"tweeps, lets all pray for japan. historical 8.8 mag quake hits city, tsunami warnings up," Atienza added.

Actresses Sunshine Cruz and Iya Villania were asking for prayers to help the people of Japan.

"Tweeties, watch @cnnbrk.. Lets pray for Japan.. magnitude 8.9 quake," Cruz said.

"The news is so shocking :( let's pray for those affected... :(" Villania said.

Veteran actor Tirso Cruz III said: "Let us pray for the places under Tsunami alert. May the Lord keep the people there safe."

International singer Lea Salonga said via Twitter: "8.8 quake hits Japan, tsunami warnings in Russia, Taiwan, Hawaii, and the Philippines. Oh no..."

"The massive destruction in Japan is devastating! My heart breaks as I watch millions lose their homes!! MY GOD THIS IS INSANE! ☹ #CNN!" Ruffa Gutierrez added.

Actor Luis Manzano said that what happened in Japan is a reminder that there's someone more powerful than mankind.

"Its one of those days that God reminds there is a higher power beyond us, let's say a prayer for everyone affected and will be affected," Manzano said.

"Prayers for Japan. Natural calamities remind us that we are living in just one world. Everybody is our brother&sister," Tim Yap reflected.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology has raised tsunami alert level 2 in the eastern coastal communities of the country.

Meanwhile, actress Denise Laurel asked the public not to panic.

"Let's do what we can and pray for them... Don't get carried away and tweet others that the world is going to end. Don't spread panic pls," Laurel appealed.
