Jodi Protecting Son by Keeping Quiet: Report

Actress Jodi Sta. Maria is keeping mum on the latest controversy that is hounding her personal life to protect herself and her 6-year-old son, Thirdy, according to “The Buzz” sources.

The sources of the celebrity show said Sta. Maria is choosing to keep silent amid reports that she has separated from her husband, Panfilo “Pampi” Lacson Jr., because it is her “best defense.”

Actor Luis Manzano also declined to react to the reported marital problem of his close friend actress.

“It's a marital issue, my voice need not be heard. Siguro tama na na Jodi decided to keep quiet and si Pampi nag-release ng kanyang statement. Iwan na lang natin doon, huwag na nating dagdagan ng kung ano ano pa,” he said.

According to reports, Lacson, a son of fugitive Sen. Panfilo Lacson, confirmed that he and his wife have been estranged for 7 months now.

The young Lacson also reportedly denied physically abusing his wife.

This was not the first time that the 2 were hounded by controversies since tying the knot in 2005 in Las Vegas.

“The Buzz” reported that Lacson was first accused of hurting his wife 2 years after their marriage. Both husband and wife had denied the rumors.

Sta. Maria then said that it was normal for any couple to have arguments and disagreements, but her husband had never laid a hand on her.

In 2007, rumors about their separation also surfaced after she was spotted sans her wedding ring.

Sta.Maria’s explanation was: “Kailangan ko siyang ipa-resize because I lost a lot of weight so medyo lumuluwag siya. Isipin na nila lahat ng gusto nilang isipin pero hindi [totoo ang balitang hiwalay na kami].”

The rumors came to life again in 2010 when, during her acceptance speech after winning the best supporting actress prize at Cinema One Originals Film Festival, she forgot to thank her husband.

In her defense, the actress said she was too overwhelmed that time that her mind went blank.

Her name was also dragged into the separation of actress Iwa Moto and Mickey Ablan.

Sta. Maria had chosen not to answer the issue, but Moto cleared her name from the controversy.

Sta. Maria has also decided not to answer questions involving her marriage, saying she is keeping her personal life private.
