The star of the top-rating show 'My Lover, My Wife', Maxene Magalona, keeps us glued to our television sets during the afternoon Dramarama block of GMA. Isang magaling na aktres, she is one of those artists we have na nagsumikap na matapos ang kanyang pagaaral and get her college degree. Ano kaya ang maipapayo ni Maxene sa mga graduates ng 2011? Nagsimula si Maxene Magalona sa showbiz at a very early age. Her father, the late Francis Magalona, and her grandparents, the late actors Pancho Magalona and Tita Duran, may have paved the way for Maxene to have a flourishingcareer in showbiz, pero nakita nating lahat how she strived to make a name for herself and be known as a serious dramatic actress in her own right.

Her roles in Una Kang Naging Akin, Kung Aagawin Mo Ang Lahat Sa Akin at ang top-rating afternoon soap ngayon, My Lover, My Wife, proved that indeed Maxene has polished her craft. She and the rest of the cast have been receiving good reviews para sa acting nila sa show.

“We are very happy kasi we didn’t expect na ganito ka-grabe yung reaction ng tao,” ang naging pahayag ni Maxene during an exclusive interview after ng iGMA Live Chat noong March 24, 2011.

Kaya naman lalo pa niyang pinagbubutihan ang pag-arte dahil for her this is her work, her bread and butter. In fact, nagaaral pa lang si Maxene, alam na niya kung gaano ka-importante ang trabaho.

“Well, yung akin is different kasi in the limelight, kasi I studied while I’m a celebrity. Ang masasabi ko it does not matter on what you are working as while you are studying. It is still work. It is just the same.”

“A job is a job, and if you need to put yourself (through) school, if you are doing it to earn money para bayaran ang tuition, mas lalo ka dapat magkaroon ng motivation para gawin pareho. Kung gusto may paraan kung ayaw may dahilan. So if there’s a will, there’s a way. There will always be a way para matapos mo yung nasimulan mo,” ang paliwanag ni Maxene sa amin.

She said that hindi naging madali for her as a working student to get her degree pero dahil sa alam niya kung gaano ka-importante ang education she strived to finish school and get her Social Science degree from Ateneo de Manila University.

“Mahirap talaga pero you have to remember na college will always be flexible. You will always have a way to talk to your teachers, to the admin, marami kang letters na ipapadala, marami kang papakiusapan, but you know, in the end, it will all be worth it.”

“Ang trabaho mo at ang education mo will be important in life. Eto ngayon, I know that I will not be able to become an actress forever, but at least I have my education and my degree to back me up.”

A year after graduating, ano ba ang maipapayo nya sa mga magsisipagtapos ngayong 2011?

“Don’t stop, I know its tiring, school is very tiring, have a few months of rest, and then after that, go straight into looking for a job kasi not everyone has the opportunity to get a job kaya ‘wag kayong titigil. Nandyan ka na, you finally graduated, gamitin mo na rin. ‘Wag kayong titigil, look for a job right away, and then pagbutihin ninyo.”

Mapapanood ang My Lover, My Wife tuwing Dramarama sa Hapon ng GMA after Nita Negrita.
