Singer-entrepreneur Rachel Alejandro is set to marry her fiancé, a journalist from Spain, this month.

"Just a week to go.. I'm very, very excited. My sisters just arrived from the States, from New York, and slowly medyo, everybody is fitting their dresses na and stuff," she told ABS-CBN News in her interview on April 2.

Alejandro, who admitted that she is a hands-on bride, will marry Carlos Santamaria, a Spanish News Agency reporter, in Boracay. They have been together for one year.

The singer said her family is helping her with the preparations.

"Everyday, it's like we're doing things together. This is parang part of the whole process and I'm really enjoying every minute of it," she added.

The bride-to-be said Santamaria is "the right choice" for her. "I think dumadating talaga sa buhay ng tao na may makikila kang tao na feeling mo you can spend the rest of your life with him."

The multi-awarded singer confessed that there was no marriage proposal.

She explained: “Dinecide namin pareho when we met in Vietnam, on one of those times kasi he lives in Bangkok. In this particular time, nagkita kami sa Vietnam, we spend a few days there and then nag-usap lang kami. We said, ‘You know what kung ganito tayo kasaya lagi we should get married.' And that was it."

Alejandro said marrying a journalist will never be easy for her because of the “danger involved’ in his profession.

"Naloka-loka ako 'noong pinadala siya sa Japan recently with the radiation and all that, talagang umiiyak ako. Sabi ko ganoon pala talaga. Siyempre, he's a reporter, kailangan niya," she said.

Meanwhile, Alejandro divulged that her former boyfriend, singer-composer Dingdong Avanzado, composed a song for her and Santamaria’s wedding.

"I was very appreciative that he [Avanzado] made a song for me, for the wedding. Actually he composed for me and Carlos, it's called 'The One.' Maganda, maganda 'yong kanta, I heard it briefly pa lang. I haven’t heard the whole thing yet but I was touched that he did that,” she said.

Alejandro’s maid of honor will be singer-actress Geneva Cruz, while "Mula Sa Puso" second unit director Ricky Rivero will be Alejandro's man of honor.
