Kathryn still prefers 'teenybopper' roles

Young actress Kathryn Bernardo said she is not yet ready to follow the path of her “Mara Clara” co-star Julia Montes.

Unlike Montes, who is now Coco Martin’s leading lady in the television series “Walang Hanggan,” Bernardo said she still prefers to portray “teenybopper” roles.

“Ako kasi, kahit patandain mo ako hindi rin kapanipaniwala eh. For teenybopper roles lang yung sakin muna,” she told Push.com.ph.

Meanwhile, Bernardo said she is saddened now that her youth-oriented Sunday show “Growing Up” is about to end.

"Ito yung show na 1st time ko kinonsider na family lahat. Ang saya-saya, super. The best sila,” she said.

Bernardo and Montes are on “Growing Up.”

Julia OK to be paired with different actors

Julia Montes has no complaints that she is being paired with different actors in her various projects.

Speaking to Push.com.ph, Montes said what she considers more important is the quality of the projects given to her.

“Para sa akin, wala naman akong against sa paiba-iba ng love team. Go lang ako basta maganda yung project at yung character ko,” she said.

Montes is currently paired with actor Coco Martin in the ABS-CBN primetime series “Walang Hanggan.”

The actress said she is really comfortable working with Martin because he is a great and professional actor.

“Si Coco, maalaga siya in a way na kapag break aasikasuhin ka niya, tapos sa scene aalalayan ka. Lalo na kapag yung mga scene na alam mong alanganin. Tulad nung eksenang binuhat niya ako sa burol, he made sure na talagang hindi ako masasaktan dun sa pagbuhat niya sa akin,” she said.

Apart from Martin, Montes is also set to work with actor Enrique Gil for a movie under Star Cinema.

“Nakatrabaho ko na noon si Enrique sa ‘Way Back Home’. Excited ako kasi doon kami ni Sam Concepcion yung magka-partner, tapos naging Sam-Kathryn (Bernardo). Tapos kami naman ni Enrique ngayon so interesting yung switch,” she said.

According to the actress, she does not mind having two partners. She said she is just grateful that a lot of blessings are continuously coming her way.

“Sana forever ng 2012! Siyempre masaya ako. Hindi ko ma-explain kasi hindi ko ine-expect na itong taon na ito magiging ganito ako ka-blessed. Sabi nga nila magiging fruitful itong taon na ito para sa akin, sana tuloy-tuloy lang,” she said.

Julia Montes: Working at a young age is not easy

Julia Montes admitted that her early struggles in showbiz have made her more disciplined and motivated at a young age.

In an interview on "Bandila" on Tuesday, Montes said it was not easy juggling school, attending auditions, and finding ways to help her family financially.

"Masasabi ko lang po mahirap talaga. Kasi at a young age, ang dami ko nang iniisip, hindi tulad ng ibang teenagers," she said.

"Siguro po ang pinakamahirap lang, 'yung typical na kapag galing ako sa school, iisipin ko pag-uwi ko kailangan ko mag-audition, kailangan ko ng work para sa future," she added.

With her family now financially stable, Montes said all her hard work was worth it.

"Ngayon po, masaya nang bonggang bongga kasi may income na at stable na rin po. May savings din ako, mandatory sa Star Magic, and may personal din," she shared.

The actress added that she is grateful for the many blessings that continue to come her way.

Montes rose to fame for her role in the remake of television series "Mara Clara."

She currently appears on teen show "Growing Up."

Next year, she will be paired with actor Coco Martin for ABS-CBN's upcoming series "Walang Hanggan."

Asked if there is somebody else she would like to work with in a project, Montes said: "Vilma Santos po kasi po kapag pinapanood ko siya, lahat ng acting piece niya talagang kalidad. Makikita niyong ramdam at tagos."

Julia Montes Graduates from High School

“Mara Clara” lead star Julia Montes has two reasons to celebrate: Not only had she just turned 16, she has also finished high school.

On Saturday, the young actress attended her school's recognition rites. Fans flocked to have a picture taken with her.

The young star shared feeling overwhelmed with the many blessings that are coming her way.

“Super saya po kasi ang daming blessings sa year na to. Thank you kasi ga-graduate din ako ng high school,” she said.

Montes's grandmother was beaming with pride.

“Natutuwa ako dahil makakapag-college din siya. Sana hindi siya magbago,” Montes’ grandmother said.

Just like actress Kim Chiu who also graduated from high school recently, Montes also dreams to inspire young people to pursue their studies.

She said that despite her hectic show business schedule, she will find a way to get a college degree.

“Sa school nag-iisip pa po ako pero sa course balak ko mag-tourism or culinary arts,” she said.
