Kyla Is Engaged To Cager Rich Alvarez

MANILA, Philippines - R&B Princess Kyla is engaged to cager Richard "Rich" Alvarez, her boyfriend of almost 5 years.

Kyla surprised everyone when she announced that she is getting married during the Bureau of Internal Revenue’s (BIR) "Buwis Mo Para Sa Bagong Pilipinas" campaign kick-off. According to her, Alvarez proposed to her last week.

"Marriage is coming, coming soon. Oh yes, [I'm engaged]," the multi-awarded singer said as she showed off her engagement ring.

The 30-year-old singer said she and Alvarez have yet to iron out the schedules and other details of their upcoming wedding.

"Wala pang date, pinag-uusapan pa namin. We're not sure kasi depende 'yon sa mga kamag-anak niya rin kasi. Ang mga kapatid niya nasa States lahat. So kung ano ‘yong availability, kailangan naming mag-meet somewhere para lahat makapunta," said Kyla.

She assured though that she will not keep her wedding day a secret.

The singer wants to have an intimate and traditional church wedding.

"Gusto ko traditional, 'yong naglalakad sa church, gusto ko sa church talaga. Medyo may pagka-Filipina ako, minsan ka lang kasing ikasal, di ba, kaya maglalakad na ko sa aisle," she added.

Alvarez is playing for Talk 'N Text Tropang Texters of the Philippine Basketball Association.

Charice Joins Celebrities In Fight versus Heart Disease In US

NEW YORK, NY — “Glee” guest star Charice sparkled like a true star as she walked the red carpet at the Woman’s Day Red Dress Awards in New York Tuesday night.

The event commemorated the American Heart Month by honoring women who made significant contributions to the fight against heart disease.

Charice said the event hit close to home because her own little brother died of heart disease 15 years ago.

“It’s really important because I want, not only the women, but all the people around the world to take care of themselves, their hearts, so I’m really glad that I’m part of this charity event,” she said.

Celebrities who walked the red carpet included host Mario Lopez, modern pop-soul artists Cee-Lo, Red Dress Awardees like broadcast icon Barbara Walters and “Today” show co-anchor and NBC Dateline Correspondent Hoda Kotb.

Some of these big stars turned into big fans of Charice Tuesday night.

"Wait, I have one question for you, who is better than Charice? When she sang on 'Oprah' that time, I have to tell you, I stood up on my couch, applauded alone in my living room because I thought she sang like an angel," Kotb said.

Guiliana Rancic, host of E! News, was equally excited to see the 18-year-old Filipino songstress perform live onstage. "I'm very excited to see her perform tonight. I have never seen her perform, so I'm very excited."

Guests got up on their feet and danced to Charice’s version of “I Will Survive.” The audience also gave her a standing ovation after they were blown away by her performance. She also performed songs from the movie “The Bodyguard.”

Local and mainstream press can’t seem to get enough of this “Glee” guest star who made it to BuddyTV’s list of top 15 best performance of “Glee Season II” for Sunshine Corazon’s telephone duet with Rachel.

Almost every reporter asked Charice about her appearance on “Glee.”

Charice said: “I think that’s the coolest thing that happened ever in my life. And I’m really glad that I’m going back there. I can’t say when because I’ve seen a lot of interviews of sir Ryan Murphy (creator of Glee) and I think I’m going to stick to that.”

After her one "Glee" appearance, Charice is now a household name — and she’s only getting started.

Venus Raj: No Hand in Rica Leaving UKG

Beauty queen Venus Raj, 2010 Binibining Pilipinas-Universe and Miss Universe 4th runner up, laughed off speculations that she had something to do with Rica Peralejo and some hosts leaving ABS-CBN morning show “Umagang Kay Ganda (UKG).”

Raj, along with Iya Villania, will join the UKG gang starting Monday. Raj will deliver the latest and the hottest showbiz reports.

She will also host the newest segment of the show, “Barangay Bida,” which will air every Friday.

Peralejo bid goodbye to the show on Friday last week.

In her live interview on “The Buzz” Sunday, the 22-year-old beauty pointed out that she is in no position to demand who should go or who should stay in the TV program.

She explained that some hosts opted to leave the TV show so as to give them more time to do other things.

In Peralejo’s case, Raj said the young actress-host is planning to study. “Gusto din niyang mag-concentrate sa kanyang pag-aaral.”

She added: “May iba magco-concentrate sa news. ‘Yong iba magco-concentrate sa projects, kung anumang meron sila. Hindi naman po ako ang naging dahilan.”

Raj was also all praises for her UKG co-hosts. “Sobrang accommodating. Hindi mahirap mag-adjust kung ganoon kabait ang makakasama ko.”

As for criticisms that she is not a good choice to become a new host of UKG, the 2010 Miss Universe 4th placer said she respects their opinions. She asked them to give her a chance to show that she can do her job.

“Hindi ko tatanggapin ang isang project na hindi ko kaya. Alam kong kaya ko kaya tinanggap ko,” she said.

Actress Angelica Panganiban Broke Her Silence - Denies Nude Photo Scandal

Actress Angelica Panganiban broke her silence on Thursday on the controversy over an alleged photo of hers that has been circulating in the Internet.

The photo allegedly shows the topless actress.

In an interview with “Showbiz News Ngayon,” Panganiban vehemently denied that she is the woman in the picture.

“Hindi po ako iyon at malayong malayo po ang katawan ko doon. Sabi ko nga kung puwede ko lang ipakita ang aking katawan, gagawin ko kaya lang baka mawalan naman ako ng trabaho noon,” she said.

According to Panganiban, she visited the website where the photo is posted.

She also confessed that even she got confused because the girl in the photo really looks like her.

“May tumawag kasi sa akin dati pa sinasabi na 'o may kumakalat na picture mo pero hindi naman ikaw kaya lang may mga nagki-claim na ikaw nga.' Picture ko nga raw at nagsusuot nga daw ako ng bra. Pinuntahan ko yung site. Kahit ako na-confuse. Pero alam ko yung katawan hindi ako ‘yon. Pero tinitignan ko ‘yong muka, grabe kamukhang-kamukha ko naman ‘to,” she said.

The actress called on the public to stop spreading the picture because it is not pleasing.

“Hindi ko naman iyan papatulan. Sana lang tumigil na. Sa taong nagkakalat nito, babae ka man o lalaki, sana magkaroon ka naman ng konting hiya. Isipin mo na lang na may kapatid kang babae, may nanay ka tapos ganito ang ginagawa mo. Hindi nakakatuwa,” said Panganiban.

Liz Uy Greets PNoy On His Birthday

MANILA, Philippines - Fashion editor and celebrity stylist Liz Uy on Tuesday greeted former boss President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, who is celebrating his 51st birthday today.

In microblogging site "Twitter", Uy, who is also celebrating her 29th birthday, extended her birthday greeting to PNoy.

"Happy birthday to our beloved president," she tweeted.

The bachelor President and the elusive celebrity stylist used to go out on dates last year. Some even speculated that they were already engaged to be married.

Sarah Won't Leave ABS-CBN

MANILA, Philippines – Pop Star Princess Sarah Geronimo is setting the record straight. Contrary to persistent rumors, she will not leave the Kapamilya network.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Tuesday, Geronimo stressed that she will remain a Kapamilya star because she is happy and pleased with all her projects on ABS-CBN.

"Happy naman ako sa suporta at breaks na binibigay sa akin ng ABS-CBN mula pa nang nag-umpisa ako," Geronimo said during the thanksgiving party of her charity project.

In fact, Geronimo is currently shooting a movie with talented young actor Gerald Anderson under Star Cinema, which is set to air this March.

“By March po ang pelikula...'Just the Way You Are' ang working title,” she said.

Geronimo also has a message for the solid fan base of Anderson and Kim Chiu. The Kimeralds expressed their support for the movie and vowed to watch it.

“Nagpapasalamat po ako na binigyan ninyo po kami ng pagkakataon na makapasok po sa inyong mga puso. Itong pong pinagtatrabahuhan namin ni Gerald, sana magustuhan ninyo,” she said.

Toni Denies Ignoring Fan

MANILA, Philippines – Television host Toni Gonzaga has denied rumors claiming she intentionally snubbed a fan who approached her for a photo.

During the grand press conference of the upcoming show “Happy Yipee Yehey,” Gonzaga said that she never says no to anybody who wishes to have a picture taken with her.

“Hindi naman ako nagsasalita ng ayaw ko. Kung sasabihin ko man na ayaw ko, ang sasabihin ko pasensiya na po. Hindi po ako nagsasabi ng ayaw ko sa mga nagpapa-picture,” she said,

Gonzaga acknowledged that she will never be able to please everyone.

“Hindi na po natin maiiwasan iyan na ang mga tao may masasabi sa atin kasi hindi naman talaga natin mapi-please lahat,” said Gonzaga.

The TV host, however, apologized for inevitable instances wherein celebrities like her are in a rush and won’t be able to entertain everyone.

“Kahit anong try natin na i-accommodate lahat, mayroon at mayroon talaga tayo minsang hindi ma-a-accomodate. Hindi naman po sa nagsusuplada o nagtataray dahil minsan sa oras, hindi po intensyon ‘yon,” she said.
