'Jennylyn Mercado' accuses Trillo of abuse: report

Jennylyn Mercado has accused her former boyfriend, actor Dennis Trillo, of verbally and physically hurting her, resulting in their break-up in March of this year, "The Buzz" reported Sunday.

In her tell-all interview with "YES!" magazine, Mercado narrated how she was physically mishandled by Trillo on the night of March 5 at the actor’s condo unit in Mandaluyong City.

She said what started out as a petty argument developed into a full-blown fight wherein Trillo had hurled expletives and insults at her. According to the actress, Trillo repeatedly called her stupid.

She said when she slapped him, Trillo grabbed her and pulled her toward the sliding glass door and then threw her downstairs. She said her hip hit the floor but the actor did not attempt to help her.

She said she left the place after the incident.

When sought for reaction, Trillo sent this message to "Yes!" magazine: "I choose not to speak because there is nothing to speak about. The truth is my relationship with Jen just didn't work out."

Days following their break-up, Mercado took a special interest in Japanese martial art jujitsu. Many suspect that this is because of the incident with Trillo.

In her earlier interview, Mercado admitted she is learning jujitsu for self-defense.

She met Luis Manzano, whom she is now dating, in one of her classes.

Karylle takes lead role in new musical show

Actress-singer Karylle Tatlonghari is now the lead star of Asian series titled "The Kitchen Musical."

In an interview during the press conference on Monday for the said series, Karylle clarified reports that the series is patterned after US hit musical series "Glee."

"There was a time in the world that musical was the format of movie, that was actually different kinds of movies kunwari West Side Story was a musical, Annie was a musical maraming ganon dati it's just that ngayon ay hindi na kasi siya uso. Kaya the other musical that you can compare it with is Glee," Karylle said.

Karylle, whose first acting role was "Little Mermaid" in 2000, said that she's happy that musical shows is finally back and being embraced by viewers.

"Well of course we are happy that this kind of format is back, like the same way that reality TV is a format, the same way that cooking show is also different format, parang genre kumbaga," Karylle said.

On Sunday, she will leave the country and will stay in Singapore for 4 months to do "The Kitchen Musical," the first ever pan-Asian television musical drama series.

The series is an original production by The Group Entertainment and it is set to launch in the country on Studio 23 and in 19 countries across Asia this October.

"The Kitchen Musical" will be served in 13 one-hour episodes and will tell the story of a rich girl fresh out of culinary school in Paris who embarks on a journey of self-discovery when she starts working for the Avilon, her father's restaurant.

In the show, Karylle will play the lead female character Madeline.

Also part of the Asian show are Filipino artists Ikey Canoy, Thou Reyes, and Christian Bautista.

Bye Showtime

In the interview, Karylle also expressed that she will miss her hosting job for ABS-CBN's "Showtime."

"They are so sweet talaga. Sobra akong overwhelmed sa sweetness. I was able to talk to them pero hindi ako nakapag ba-bye talaga," Karylle said adding: "Mami-miss ko talaga kasi iba ang bonding doon unlike other shows kami we are there from start to finish, kami nandoon nagkukuwentuhan kami, parang school yung masyado ka ng attached sa kanila," she said.

Karylle said that she will definitely bid goodbye to her "Showtime" family before flying to Singapore.

Star Power grand winner Angeline Quinto is the newest voice of DZMM Radyo Patrol Sais Trenta's jingle for the year.

In an interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com, Quinto said that she's really honored to record the jingle of the country's leading AM station.

"Opo talagang nagulat din po ako nang malaman kong kami ni kuya Eric ang kakanta ng jingle ng DZMM,"

Quinto sang the jingle alongside balladeer Eric Santos. The two were accompanied by Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra and UP Concert Chorus.

"Sobrang pasasalamat po talaga ako sa kanila, kasi ang DZMM ay kinalikahan ko na yan. Kaya sabi ko sana ay mas marami pa kayong mapaglingkuran na mga kababayan natin," she said.

The "ASAP Rocks" performer also said she feels like she was reporting news while recording the station's theme song, which will be aired on June 12.

Meanwhile, Quinto also shared her excitement with her version of hit song "Mahiwaga."

"Mahiwaga," originally written by Don Manolo Villar, is the theme song of ABS-CBN's hit series "100 Days to Heaven." It was originally recorded by Marian devotee Fatima Soriano.

Quinto is set to have her first major concert this July.

Angel Locsin excited for 'In the Name Love' US screening

An excited Angel Locsin arrived at Los Angeles International Airport Thursday night, stopping to take pictures with fans.

Locsin is set to attend the North American premier of her new movie “In the Name of Love. “

“I'm very excited kasi after two years, ngayon lang ako nakabalik ng States ulit. And I'm excited to meet our kababayans. Finally, mapapalabas na natin ‘yong ‘In the Name of Love’ dito sa US,” Locsin said.

The movie, which co-stars Aga Muhlach and Jake Cuenca, is the 18th full length feature film from Star Cinema.

Cuenca will join Locsin and fans at the Alex Theater in Glendale on Saturday, May 28.

Actress Angel Locsin preferred to keep her silence about the news that former boyfriend Luis Manzano is now dating actress Jennylyn Mercado.

Sarah Geronimo admitted she is taking glutathione orally to achieve a pinky-white complexion.

"Bakit? Hindi ko po alam. Hindi ko po alam," Geronimo said.

It an official statement, Star Cinema stressed that the film outfit has nothing against the singer.

"The issue pitting Star Cinema against Sarah Geronimo is not true. A new movie project for her this year is in development already and another one set for 2012," the company said.

Pop Star Princess Sarah Geronimo is set to do a collaboration with international singing sensation Charice.

During a photo shoot for her Belo Essentials endorsement project, Geronimo told abs-cbnNEWS.com that she is set to do a single with Charice.

"Nasa planning stage pa lang siya and I'm hoping na matuloy kasi international pop sensation si Charice," Geronimo said.

She met Charice when she hosted ABS-CBN's defunct talent show "Little Big Star" in 2005.

Charice Pempengco criticized for gaining weight

When international singing sensation Charice performed an original song on the season finale of "Glee" on Tuesday (Wednesday in Manila), Twitterverse was abuzz not just about her powerful performance, but also about her weight.

On the TV show, Charice, as Sunshine Corazon, performed "As Long As You're There" after her reconciliation with the show's lead character, Rachel Berry (Lea Michele).

But aside from her powerful production number, people could not help but notice that Charice is gaining weight.

It became obvious especially when she put her hair up and wore a fitted blue dress.

Melissa Sirois said that she sees nothing wrong even if Charice weighs 200 lbs.

"Regardless of how people reacted on our dear Charice’s physical attributes, it doesnt affect any at all her performance and appearance on the said episodes but instead my admiration and excitement heated up and level up way way high!!!" netizen Chris said.

Others, however, were not too kind, with some calling on her to watch her weight.

In April 2010, the Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc., the organizer of Binibining Pilipinas, allowed Raj to reclaim her title due to humanitarian reasons.

Raj then proved that she really deserved the crown when she represented the country and was named 4th runner-up in the prestigious Ms. Universe pageant.

Lea salonga won't compete with Charice Pempengco

International singer Lea Salonga turned down the idea to perform "Listen" with international singing sensation Charice.

"Hindi ko yata kaya. Hindi ko yata kakayanin kung 'Listen' kasi ang galing niyang kumanta," Salonga said.

Salonga made the statement in response to a viewer's question if she would be willing to perform "Listen" with Charice.

The question was part of "Showbiz News Ngayon"'s Tanong All U Can segment.

In a previous interview, Salonga shared her admiration for Charice's talent.

She said that she is proud of what Charice and other Filipino artists have achieved for the Philippines.

Salonga also added that she really loves the voice of Charice.

A movie comeback

Salonga, best known for her role in the international musical hit "Miss Saigon", said that if given the chance, she would still want to do a project with Aga Muhlach.

Muhlach is Salonga's leading man in "Sana Maulit Muli" in 1995.

It has been reported that they will do a movie together under Star Cinema.
