Toni Gonzaga Denies Secret Marriage

Toni Gonzaga denied talks that she will secretly marry her longtime boyfriend, director Paul Soriano.

Report has it that Gonzaga and her sweetheart are set to exchange 'I dos' in an undisclosed church in Tagaytay this coming May.

In a text message sent to “Showbiz News Ngayon,” Gonzaga stressed that there is no truth to the said report.

"Wala, wala nga akong singsing eh. Hindi totoo 'yan. Pero siyempre nakakatuwa na 'yung ibang tao 'yun ang iniisip nila, [na] dito papunta ang lahat. 'Yun din naman ang pinagdarasal natin," she said.

Gonzaga and Soriano have been going steady for 4 years now.

In previous interviews, Gonzaga said that she's not yet ready to tie the knot . She said that her ideal time to settle down is three years from now.

Soriano, on the other hand, expressed his desire to marry Gonzaga someday .

Bea Alonzo Signs 4-movie Contract With Star Cinema

Actress Bea Alonzo signed up for 4 more movies under ABS-CBN's movie outfit Star Cinema.

In an interview during the contract signing at the ABS-CBN compound, Alonzo said she's excited to shoot new films after her previous successful movie projects under Star Cinema.

"Ito ay 4 pictures para sa Star Cinema. Masaya kasi apat na pelikula ulit ang gagawin ko. Parang dito na ako lumaki. Almost every year ginagawa natin ito. Naging tradition na. And now I'm really happy and excited sa next projects na gagawin ko with them," Alonzo told reporters.

Alonzo said that included in the 4-film deal is her movie with the Prince of Comedy, Vic Sotto and a film with Angel Locsin and suitor Zanjoe Marudo.

"Gagawa ako ng pelikula with Angel Locsin, 'yung 'Maalaala Mo Kaya, The Movie' right after this one (with Vic). (Doon sa movie with Angel) kasama din si Zanjoe," Alonzo bared.

Alonzo added that it's an honor for her to star in a movie for "Maalaala Mo Kaya"'s 20th anniversary.

"It's such a big project at noong narinig ko, napatalon ako sa sobrang tuwa. Masaya ako. Ang daming blessings na natanggap ko ngayon na every morning tuwing gigising ako, may drive talaga kasi ang daming proyekto, ang daming positive energy. Lahat ng nakapaligid sa iyo masasaya at mabubuting tao," she said.

The actress also said that she's also thrilled to work with Locsin for the first time.

"Siyempre first time kong makakatrabaho si Ms. Angel Locsin so masaya. Masaya ako kasi hindi palagi na nakakatrabaho ko ang ka-genre ko, 'yung parehas ko ng ginagawa. 'Yung last person na nakatrabaho ko na halos kasing edad ko was Anne Curtis for 'Maging Sino Ka Man.' So ngayon, ibang timpla ang pelikula. Kakaiba at napakaganda ng istorya," Alonzo said.

She also said that she's set to do a film with longtime on-screen partner John Lloyd Cruz to be directed by Olivia Lamasan.

Present during the signing of Alonzo's contract were ABS-CBN’s executives Malou Santos and Johnny Manahan.

 

On Zanjoe

Alonzo, who's also controversial when it comes to love, shared that she and Marudo go out on dates.

The actress tried not to talk about Marudo but stressed that what is important now is that they are happy with each other.

"Oo, dating. Alam mo, we don't want to talk about kung nasaan, anong estado. Right now we are happy being with each other, 'yung company ng bawat isa. At it's very fun to hang out with him," she said.

Alonzo admitted that she misses spending time with the actor whom she described as a "blessing" now that they are both busy fulfilling their showbiz commitments.

"Oo naman, lalo na kapag may kasama ka halos araw-araw o madalas lalo na kapag naputol 'yon. Siya naman 'yong taong kamiss-miss naman. Siya ang taong gusto mong laging kasama kasi mabait siya at nakakatawa siya," she said.

She stressed that right now she can't commit to Marudo since she's not yet ready.

"It's just that right now parang it's hard to commit. It's hard kasi marami akong ginagawa. It's hard na sasabihin ko sa tao na 'This is what I want to offer you' lalo na at hindi mo matutupad kasi nga you have a lot of things to do, marami kang responsibilidad. So halimbawa, kung may available akong time and I went to spend time with him and vice versa, 'yun na ang ginagawa namin.

Currently, Alonzo is busy shooting her film with Sotto and a television series titled "Guns and Roses" with Robin Padilla.

Angelica Deserves Apology From Younghusband Fan - Derek

Actor Derek Ramsay said that his longtime girlfriend, actress Angelica Panganiban, deserves an apology from a detractor who hurled offensive words against the actress.

Panganiban was criticized after she expressed her opinion on Azkals striker Phil Younghusband's plan to star in an indie film.

According to Panganiban, it would be better if Younghusband will first devote his time to football before pursuing an acting career.

Her opinion triggered a war on Twitter between her and a fan of Younghusband.

Aside from badmouthing the actress, the fan also made tirades against her boyfriend, Ramsay.

In an interview with "Showbiz News Ngayon", Ramsay defended his sweetheart.

"'Yung mga nasabi sa akin, I don't really care. Pero 'yung mga nasabi towards Angel was a bit off," Ramsay said.

The actor believes that Panganiban did not say anything wrong against the football player.

"You know what, the thing is, she understands the game. I know a lot of the fans that watch don't understand the game. So hindi naman OA ang sinabi ni Angel. I don't know why lumaki ang isyu," he said.

Ramsay also bared that they already traced the fan who posted offensive tweets against Panganiban.

"Oo na-trace na yata nila kasi mayroon daw yatang common friend. So, na-trace din the same day. I think he should definitely give Angel an apology. I think she deserves it. She didn't hurt or say anything bad," he said.

After the controversy, Ramsay stressed that he harbors no ill-feelings toward the striker.

He also hopes that everything will turn out OK soon.

"Let's say this. There was never an issue between Angel, myself and the Azkals. The issue here was how somebody reacted to someone with an innocent opinion," he said.

He also praised Younghusband for understanding Panganiban's opinion.

"It's so nice of him to understand what Angel was saying. At least he sees that Angel was trying to help. Sometimes you take constructive criticisms. It's nice to see that he is not reacting like how his fans are reacting," Ramsay said.

Newest love team Gerald Anderson and Pop Star Princess Sarah Geronimo reacted to talks saying that they have good chemistry on-screen as seen in their film's teasers.

Anderson, Milby and Geronimo are starring together for the first time in Star Cinema's upcoming movie "Catch Me, I'm in Love."

During the photo shoot for the said movie, the two expressed happiness over the positive feedback.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Mendiola laughed off intrigues as she was reminded that other young leading ladies like Erich Gonzales, Empress Schuck and Andi Eigenmann also received the same criticism.

Lauren Young bagged the much-coveted role of Olivia Pereira in the remake of Mula Sa Puso after beating out 120 stars who also auditioned for it. While the 17-year-old could hardly believe her luck, she was also grateful to be given such a big break after five years in the biz. “Siyempre it feels very overwhelming talaga. I’m very happy and nervous at the same time. I worked hard for this one. Hindi lang naman siya binigay sa akin. I went through the audition process, nag-workshop pa ako. So feeling ko naman I deserve it din kasi pinaghirapan ko naman. And since binigay nila (ABS-CBN management) ito sa akin, I’m going to show them that I do deserve it,” said Lauren during the cast pictorial last February 28.

It was Mula Sa Puso which catapulted Claudine Barretto to stardom back in the late ‘90s. When asked if she’s ready to measure up to Claudine’s acting prowess, Lauren said that she’d rather focus on giving her character a fresh twist this time around. “Siyempre ‘di mo naman maiiwasan yun kasi si Claudine ‘yan, ako si Lauren lang. People are always going to compare me to the original one. To top that, it’s Miss Claudine Barretto pa. It just adds more pressure on me. But if there's no pressure, it’s not worth it kasi you need pressure din to give you that push.”

Lauren further shared that she’s excited to work with her leading men JM De Guzman and Enrique Gil. But she’s set on keeping her relationship with both of them on a professional level. “Ako kasi ‘pag trabaho, trabaho. Ewan ko lang kung si JM ganon. But if you can’t help how you feel, e ‘di you can’t help how you feel. Pero as much as possible I want to keep it professional. Mas close ako kay Enrique. The fact that she’d get to work with veteran actresses like Dawn Zulueta and Eula Valdez was something that Lauren appreciates as well. “I like working with people who are more experienced because they teach me things. Pero nakatrabaho ko na si Ms. Dawn, naging nanay ko siya sa MMK (Maalaala Mo Kaya) dati. She’s easy to work with and we have good chemistry sa work. Bb. Pilipinas Bet in Nude Photo Scandal Out of Pageant

Beauty queen hopeful Roxanne Cabanero has been removed from the official list of the Binibining Pilipinas candidates over a nude photo scandal.

A nude photo of a woman who looks like Cabanero has been circulating on the internet, and it has been a hot topic in several online fora and blogs.

Recently, a blog post claimed that the nude woman is Cabanero.

The Bb. Pilipinas candidate, however, vehemently denied that she is the woman in the picture.

"Nang tinignan ko, parang gumuho ang mundo ko dahil hindi ako iyon," she said.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Cabanero said that she was actually the one who approached Binibining Pilipinas Charities Incorporated (BPCI) to report the scandal.

According to her, she underwent an investigation conducted by BPCI itself.

However, she was suddenly caught off guard when she was asked by a BPCI lawyer to just drop from the competition to quell the speculations.

"Parang lumalabas na ako iyong suspect when the fact na ako ang biktima dito," Cabanero said.

Cabanero said BPCI’s decision is not fair since, she said, she is the victim in the incident.

"Sana naman konsiderasyon na matagal ko ring pinangarap 'to and then it's not easy to go this process. Ang sakit," she added.

Because of pressure, Cabanero was left with no choice but leave the pageant.

Cabanero approached the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to help her identify the controversial blogger who posted her alleged photo.

Meanwhile, BPCI maintained that they merely implemented their rules and regulations.

They said they are stringent in screening their candidates, and if an incident such as this happens, they quickly call the attention of those involved.

“Bb. Pilipinas is governed by stringent rules and policies that are acceptable internationally. We strive to be very thorough in our screening but when violations or misinterpretations albeit deliberate or not unravel, we call the candidates’ attention to the matter," BPCI said.

BPCI said it is hoping “that all speculations regarding this incident will cease as BPCI is not inclined to delve into the issue any further in order to preserve the integrity of the pageant and the reputation of the concerned parties.”

Fil-Am Thia Megia Wows 'American Idol' Judges

Thia Megia, a Filipino-American contestant of “American Idol Season 10,” wowed the show’s celebrity judges during its semifinal round on Wednesday (US time), an online report of USA Today said.

According to the report, Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson were all praises for one of the show’s youngest performers with her rendition of “Out Here on My Own” from the musical “Fame.”

Tyler was impressed by her perfect pitch, while Lopez said Megia’s performance was “really, really special.”

Jackson, meantime, said: "This is what hot singing is about!"

"Jackson loves the quality of the tone of her voice – she reminds him of a young Michael Jackson,” the report said.

“Thia starts quietly, and a cappella. It's a fine performance, if a little bit of an old-fashioned song choice -- and a bit ironic, since three of her fellow contestants tonight attended to the Fame school in New York,” the report added.

Megia received a standing ovation from the audience after her performance.

Megia is said to be the next Charice, the 18-year-old Filipino international singing sensation who is taking the international music scene by storm.

From 24 contestants, only 5 men and 5 women will advance to the final round. The results of the semifinal round will be known on Thursday night (US time).

The judges will also choose 2 "wild cards" from among the contestants who fail to make it to the finals.

Sarah, Gerald Excited Over Their First Movie

Pop Star Princess Sarah Geronimo and Drama Action Prince Gerald Anderson are both ecstatic over their upcoming movie, "Catch Me...I'm In Love," which is set to premiere this month.

"Catch Me...I'm In Love" is the first on-screen partnership of Geronimo and Anderson.

"Kapag nasa set na kami talagang mararamdaman mo 'yong dedication niya para mapaganda yong trabaho niya, napaka-professional," she added.

Anderson affirmed their good working relationship.

"Nag-shooting kami sa Tanay for 4 days straight, 'di kami umuwi kaya doon kami naging close lahat," he said.

He even praised Geronimo for being "focused" and "down to earth."

"Nakita ko na talagang focused siya. Talagang she will make it sure na maganda ang kalabasan noong project namin. Alam naman natin na superstar siya pero kapag magkasama kami, hindi mo mararamdaman kasi super down to earth siya" he said.

Will they have a kissing scene in the movie?

Anderson said: "Hindi pa tapos [ang shooting], 50% percent pa lang, but we will see."

Veteran actress Dawn Zulueta and bankable actor Christopher de Leon are also part of Star Cinema and Viva Films' summer offering.

Phil, Angel Go Out On A 'Friendly Date'- Report

Filipino-British striker Phil Younghusband and actress Angel Locsin finally proceeded with their plan to go target shooting in Taguig over the weekend, celebrity show “Showbiz News Ngayon (SNN)" reported Tuesday night.

Host Bianca Gonzalez said a reliable source told her that the star football player and the “Imortal” actress were spotted at a shooting range in Taguig last Sunday.

"I think I can say this because it was a public place. May napa-who's that girl noong Sunday night kasi na-spot di umano sa Taguig ang isang Azkal player nagngangalang Phil Younghusband na nasa firing range kasama ng Angel Locsin,” Gonzalez said.

"So I guess finally natuloy na and I think I can say na because it was a public place at public naman sila," she added.

Co-host Boy Abunda also claimed that he received the same information.

"May tumawag sa amin na nagko-confirm na natuloy daw ang kanilang friendly date at maraming tao talaga ang nakakita," he said.

Younghusband asked Locsin for a romantic date on February 14 via microblogging site Twitter. Locsin, however, had to work that day so they rescheduled their “friendly date.”

They decided to go target shooting before Valentine’s Day, but postponed it after learning that the firing range where they initially planned to go to is closed every Sunday.

Just a dare?

Meanwhile, Luis Manzano, Locsin’s former boyfriend, reacted to reports that Younghusband’s very public invitation was just a dare between the striker and his teammates.

Manzano told SNN said that he is ready to defend Locsin from all the malicious intrigues.

"I don't think words would be enough or kailangang marinig ang boses ko, hindi. Ang sa akin if mangyari tsaka ako gagalaw. Ang pagtatanggol ay hindi lang sa TV, totoong buhay ang pagtatanggol,” he said.

"If a lady has been wronged and I'm close to that lady then may magaganap. I'm not naming names, I'm not [citing] any issue. If any lady, like Anne (Curtis) or my mom or any of my friends, if any of them has been wronged, I will be the first one na gagawa ng paraan na maipagtanggol sila," he added.

Sultry actress Angelica Panganiban on Thursday drew flak after tweeting her reaction to Azkals’ midfielder Phil Younghusband’s supposed second shot at show business.

Panganiban took to microblogging site Twitter to voice out her "sadness" upon learning that Younghusband is about to appear in an independent film.

The actress's tweet was: "Si Phil may indie film? Akala ko ba football player siya??? Lahat na lang artista na. Sad.”

The "Banana Split" star also advised Younghusband to focus more on his football career rather than pursuing his showbiz ambitions.

"Masama. Sana lang mag-focus muna silang lahat sa Football. Para sa Pinas kasi yun. #justsayin' after na lang ng tourny mag artista," she added.

Minutes after she posted her opinion, fans of the Philippine football team quickly berated the actress.

mieloveskyu told Panganiban: "Everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion. Hayaan mo na!"

frapaecoors tweeted: "@IamAngelicaP judging much? wow way to motivate new actors. smh"

happiemom808 said: "@IamAngelicaP thats their life! Di pag may opportunity na edi i-grab na! Ikaw nga hindi nag-aral dahil gusto mo mag artista!!!!"

anilmorales tweeted: "@IamAngelicaP bakit? wala kang pakialam kung kami ni phil or not in the same way wla karing pakialama kung may movie siya oh wala!"

Panganiban was also reminded of Younghusband’s earlier attempt to join showbiz.

Prior to his football stardom, Younghusband gave showbiz a try by joining singing contest "Celebrity Duets" in 2008. However, the showbiz career of Younghusband, who was then rumored to be dating actress Rhian Ramos, had failed to take off.

Amid the frenzy, Panganiban appealed to her critics: "Ang kitid ng utak ng iba. Di ko sinasabing ang gusto ko eh ako lang ang artista. Kung gusto pala nya mag artista, sana di na sya nag-football."

As for Younghusband’s brief showbiz stint in 2008, Panganiban tweeted: "Sana sa PBB [Pinoy Big Brother] siya sumali, 'di sa Azkals. Baka mapuyat siya sa shooting di siya makalaro ng maayos. Gets niyo ba ko? O buong araw natin to issue?"

Panganiban, however, is not the only one on Twitter who has the same sentiments. Some of her Twitter followers even defended her from criticisms.

enyeala said: "Try to understand one's opinion po,don't use harsh language against @IamAngelicaP nagmumukha kayong walang pinag-aralan"

mynameisdinaa tweeted: "Mas maraming nagmamahal sayo @IamAngelicaP kesa sa nangaaway sayo, kaya ganyan yan e naghahanap ng attensyon."

This was not the first time that Panganiban exchanged heated words in the social networking site.

In 2010, Panganiban was forced to delete her original Twitter page after she became a target of invectives and demeaning comments from some of her followers.

Aside from Panganiban, sexy actress Cristine Reyes, drama icon Claudine Barretto, and entertainment journalist Ogie Diaz were among the celebrities who got involved in the so-called "Twitter war."

Mariel Rodriguez, Robin Padilla's Catholic Wedding Set in June

Celebrity couple Mariel Rodriguez and Robin Padilla will have their second wedding in June of this year.

In a press conference for "Tum, My Pledge of Love" on Saturday, the 2 stars, who had a secret wedding in India, announced that Rodriguez will be a “June bride.”

"Gusto ko maging June bride siya," said Padilla.

Rodriguez and Padilla initially planned to tie the knot on February 14, but decided to move it to a later date to give way to their upcoming movie.

"Hindi umabot noong galing sa India. Ito naman pong dapat Valentine's Day, kami ay nabigla sa play date namin kaya po hindi namin nabigyan ng sapat na atensyon 'yon," Padilla said.

Meantime, the veteran action star assured that they will not keep their upcoming Catholic wedding a secret.

"Sa pagkakataong ito, ayaw na namin na kami lang ang nakakaalam kasi ayaw na naming may magtampo. Gusto namin sa pagkakataong ito, ‘yong kasal namin sa simbahan ay lahat kayo ay nandoon," he added.

When pressed for other wedding details, however, Padilla said: "Meron na kaming [venue ng wedding pero] sorpresa ko sa kanya 'yon, huwag na muna."
