Julia Montes: Working at a young age is not easy

Julia Montes admitted that her early struggles in showbiz have made her more disciplined and motivated at a young age.

In an interview on "Bandila" on Tuesday, Montes said it was not easy juggling school, attending auditions, and finding ways to help her family financially.

"Masasabi ko lang po mahirap talaga. Kasi at a young age, ang dami ko nang iniisip, hindi tulad ng ibang teenagers," she said.

"Siguro po ang pinakamahirap lang, 'yung typical na kapag galing ako sa school, iisipin ko pag-uwi ko kailangan ko mag-audition, kailangan ko ng work para sa future," she added.

With her family now financially stable, Montes said all her hard work was worth it.

"Ngayon po, masaya nang bonggang bongga kasi may income na at stable na rin po. May savings din ako, mandatory sa Star Magic, and may personal din," she shared.

The actress added that she is grateful for the many blessings that continue to come her way.

Montes rose to fame for her role in the remake of television series "Mara Clara."

She currently appears on teen show "Growing Up."

Next year, she will be paired with actor Coco Martin for ABS-CBN's upcoming series "Walang Hanggan."

Asked if there is somebody else she would like to work with in a project, Montes said: "Vilma Santos po kasi po kapag pinapanood ko siya, lahat ng acting piece niya talagang kalidad. Makikita niyong ramdam at tagos."

Cristine Reyes: Rayver Cruz not insecure about my success

Cristine Reyes vehemently denied rumors that her boyfriend, actor Rayver Cruz, is insecure about her successful showbiz career.

Reyes, who is enjoying the limelight following the success of her movie "No Other Woman," said Cruz has always been very supportive of all her projects.

Her afternoon series with Cruz, "Reputasyon," has been extended until January next year.

"Alam niyo nung nag-hit itong 'No Other Woman,' si Rayver ang mas tuwang tuwa pa kaysa sa akin. Kasi ako, hindi pa nagsi-sink in sa akin 'yun noon. Siya 'yung mas tuwang tuwa kapag may nababalitaang maganda. Tapos lagi niyang pinapabida," she said.

"Feeling ko hindi siya insecure kasi 'pag may mga gagawin ako, kunyari magte-tape na ako, sinasabi niya galingan ko, ganyan. Supportive siya talaga," she added.

Reyes said Cruz even watched "No Other Woman" more than once.

"Wala, tahimik lang siya the whole movie, parang nag-o-observe kung may maiiba or something. Kasi sinabi ko sa kanya, tignan mo ha, 'wag kang magloloko-loko sa movie house.' Kasi palabiro 'yun eh. So nagseryoso siya nung nanonood. Sabi niya okay naman," she said.

Reyes and Cruz celebrated their first anniversary as a couple last September.

Although they do not have plans of settling down soon, Reyes admitted that she also dreams of becoming a mother someday.

"Balak pero hindi pa ngayon. Mga mamaya," she said in jest.

Phil Younghusband has Angel Locsin's name on shoes

Angel Locsin revealed that her rumored boyfriend, Philippine Azkals heartthrob Phil Younghusband, had her name embroidered on his football shoes.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News during the 6th anniversary of the Eastwood Walk of Fame on Thursday, Locsin said that he had actually seen Younghusband’s pair of shoes with her name on it.

She said, “Sinabi niya sa akin ‘yon, tapos pinakita niya sa akin.”

When asked how she feels about the gesture, she coyly replied, “Siyempre natutuwa ka, sino ba namang hindi? Uhm wala lang, hihi.”

Though they refuse to admit the real status of their relationship, Locsin previously admitted that she and Younghusband are 2 people “in love.”

She stressed, "Hindi ko alam pero kami ay dalawang taong in love. Iyon kami ngayon. Pero relasyon? Ayun, dalawang in love na tao."

Locsin sent her best wishes to the Philippine football team ahead of their friendly match against the Los Angeles Galaxy.

"Good luck, and well sana maraming ma-entertain sila, mapasayang Pilipino, dahil kasi alam ko rin naman 'yon ang gusto nilang lahat, ‘yung maimpluwensiyahan 'yung mga kabataan na sumali sa sports, especially football," she said.

Remembering Miko Sotto

Among Locsin’s fellow recipients of Eastwood Walk of Fame stars last Thursday was her former boyfriend, the late young actor Miko Sotto.

During the event, Locsin crossed paths with Miko’s mother, Ali, and they greeted each other with a warm embrace.

After the unveiling of the newly added stars, the 2 of them knelt down near Sotto’s star for a quick photo shoot.

Miko died December 29, 2003 after he accidentally fell from the 9th floor of a condominium building in Mandaluyong City.

Iya Villania denies engagement with Drew Arellano

Iya Villania denied reports that she's engaged to long-time boyfriend Drew Arellano.

In an interview during a press conference for her newest endorsement Redoxfat, Villania laughed off the report of her engagement, saying she and Arellano have not made any plans to get married.

"Wala pa yun nga ang sinasabi ko. Nakakatawa nga kasi yung iba kino-congratulate ako parang engaged na. Sabi ko 'ha! saan nanggaling yan?"

"Ang sinasabi ko ay 7 years na kami together and we have no plans of heading down, to the direction of breaking up. So ano pa ba ang direction namin? Siyempre that would be marriage but we are not there yet, wala," she added.

Villania believed there's no deadline when it comes to settling down.

"Well, it's just it's there but there's no deadline. It wouldn't make us love each other less if we don't get married now. It's just actually title, it's formality pero we are not really in rush," she said.

The 25-year-old Villania would like to walk down the aisle between the age of 28 to 39.

Nikki Valdez keeps doors open to love

Nikki Valdez revealed that she is willing to fall in love again.

After going public with the details of her failed marriage to her Filipino-Canadian ex-husband Christopher Lina, Valdez told Push.com.ph that she is willing to have another romantic relationship as soon as the right man for him comes along.

“If it comes, it will come. Pag nandiyan na siya, I’ll be happy if God will still give me the chance to find that one person who will love me for who I am and for who I have, what I have,” she said.

However, Valdez clarified that finding romance is not her priority at the moment.

She said that she is contented with her loving daughter, and of being back in the Philippines with her family.

“I’m at the happiest state with my daughter and my family ulit,” she stressed.

“Ang importante ngayon ay I love my job and I love myself din, my daughter and my family.”

Valdez will be a part of Star Cinema’s 2011 Metro Manila Film Festival entry “Enteng ng Ina Mo,” which is the much-awaited mash-up of the perennial blockbuster movie franchises “Ang Tanging Ina” and “Enteng Kabisote.”

She has expressed her thrill over the movie project.

She said, “Sabi ko nga the more the merrier. This time, it’s bigger and mas riot kasi nagsama ang dalawang malaking pamilya, dalawang malaking pelikula, at dalawang malaking artista. Overwhelming lang kasi naririnig mo 'yung reaction ng tao na inaabangan na talaga nila.”

Charice Pempengco to appear on CNN's 'Talk Asia'

Charice is set to appear on CNN’s “Talk Asia” on Friday to talk about her humble beginnings and her journey to success.

The interview was done by CNN correspondent Anna Coren before Charice’s dad was stabbed dead last November 1 in Laguna province.

Charice said life was not easy growing up in a not so well-off and broken family.

Charice’s mom left her father years ago, bringing her and her brother along.

“Well, it was really a tough life, not really easy. My mom’s a single mom and she used to be my vocal coach and I really admire her. She’s definitely my inspiration and I look up to her a lot. I mean I decided to be a singer because of her. It was a tough life before but now this whole thing that happened to me really helped me a lot,” she said.

Charice said she had to join singing contests early on to help her mom financially.

“I told my mom to stop working because it was really hard. By the age of six, I was cooking rice and some stuff for my little brother. I was giving him the milk and everything… Every time I did all the singing contests and it was horrible,” she said.

“You start from 10 p.m. in the night and you finish at 7 a.m. in the morning and I had to go to school. She used to cry and she told me to stop and I said 'no' because that was the only way we could get a lot of money from it. I really sacrificed everything but at the same time, it felt great and it was worth it. Seeing my mom’s face every time I won made me feel great,” Charice added.

Charice also said she still gets overwhelmed by the turn of events in her life. She, however, believes she is still the simple girl she used to be.

“Yes. Yes I still get overwhelmed. It happened so fast but at the same time, I worked hard for it and I’m still working hard for it... For me, I’m still me. But, of course, my life has changed a lot. From the hard life, from a really tough life and now, I actually gave stuff that I really wanted to give to my mom,” she said.

The rest of Charice’s interview with “Talk Asia” will be available online at www.cnn.com/talkasia after the interview premieres on December 2 at 6:30 p.m., and on December 3 at 9:00 p.m. on CNN.

Judy Ann Santos open to do TV in 2012

Judy Ann Santos said she is open to do another television series by next year.

In an interview with “Kris TV” on Wednesday, Santos said that she will be more than willing to accept another television project, as long as it will not be in conflict with her schedule as a full-time mom.

“Siguro next year [pwede na ako gumawa ulit ng television series],” she told the morning show’s host, Queen of All Media Kris Aquino.

“I am open naman sa lahat eh. It’s just that kailangan ko lang din ilatag din sa producers na, ‘Sorry po pero ito po ‘yung working hours ko’,” she added.

When asked to further elaborate on her preferred working hours, Santos replied, “Siguro at least, cut-off ng 12 midnight.”

She explained, “Baka sabihin O.A. (over acting) naman [na 12 a.m. ang cut-off], hindi po, kasi gumigising po ako ng 4 a.m., 5 a.m. kasi siyempre ang pasok kasi ni Yohan sinusundo siya ng service ng 7 a.m., so hangga’t maari gusto ko gising ako habang kumakain siya or andun ako habang nagpe-prepare siya.”

According to Santos, her top priority at the moment is her family, and that she wants to spend as much time possible with them, especially with her kids.

She stressed, “Hindi naman sa nagpapaka-primadonna [ako] or what. Parang feeling ko naman since 8 years old I’ve been working until wee hours of the morning. Itong time na ‘to [sana ma-spend ko naman sa family ko].”

Santos’ last television series was ABS-CBN’s “Habang May Buhay” in 2010, wherein she worked with Gina Alajar, Derek Ramsay and Joem Bascon.

Currently, she is the host of the ABS-CBN cooking show “Junior Master Chef: Pinoy Edition.”

The actress added that she will remain a Kapamilya as long as “Showtime” is on air.

Joey de Leon tells Toni: I'm not mad at you

Joey de Leon made it clear that he is not mad at former "Eat Bulaga" co-host Toni Gonzaga, who left the noontime show several years ago to transfer to ABS-CBN.

Gonzaga, one of the hosts of "The Buzz," turned emotional when de Leon gave her a bag containing an "Eat Bulaga" coffee table book.

The said book featured an old photo of Gonzaga with the hosts of the show.

"Dati galit ka sa akin eh. Ngayon di ka na galit sa akin," she told de Leon, who guested for the first time on "The Buzz" on Sunday.

De Leon replied, "Hindi, ano ka ba. Di lang tayo nagkaintindihan. Hindi ako nagagalit sa'yo noon. Binibiro lang kita."

"O tignan mo naman, nung umalis ka umasenso ka," he added, drawing laughter from the audience. "Kung di ka lumayas sa 'Bulaga' edi baka sa EB Babes ka na."

The veteran comedian admitted, though, that they were sad when Gonzaga left the show.

"Siyempre nalungkot kami nung nawala ka. Pero ngayon, napapanood pa rin naman kita eh," he said.

Gonzaga is currently part of "Happy Yipee Yehey," ABS-CBN's noontime variety show.

She said she is thankful for having the opportunity to learn from de Leon, who is considered one of the country's top hosts.

"Mabibilang ko ang sarili ko sa isa sa mga pinakamaswerte sa henerasyon na ito na nakatrabaho ang isang Joey de Leon," she said.

Favorites

De Leon admitted that Gonzaga is currently his favorite personality on television.

This puts Gonzaga alongside Popstar Princess Sarah Geronimo, who is de Leon' favorite movie actress.

"Kayo ni Sarah, parang kayong dalawa favorite ko eh. Ikaw sa TV, siya sa pelikula," he said.

De Leon is part of Geronimo's upcoming film, "Won't Last A Day Without You."

It will hit theaters nationwide on November 30.

Hosting tips

De Leon also took the opportunity to give tips to both aspiring and current television hosts.

"Baka may mga nakikinig diyan. 'Pag nagho-host kayo, makinig kayo sa co-host niyo," he said.

"'Yung iba kasi solo lang, sarili lang [ang] iniintindi. Maganda ba ako sa TV, anong anggulo. Kailangan makikinig ka kasi mawawala ka sa takbo ng usapan," he added.

Asked if he does this to co-hosts Tito and Vic Sotto, de Leon said, "Iba na kami. Tinginan lang. Di na kailangan mag-usap."

"Close ako sa show. 'Yan ang wag kang aasa [sa co-hosts]. Kahit absent ang lahat ng co-host, dapat kaya mo mag-isa."

The veteran comedian then poked fun at Gonzaga's co-host on "Happy Yipee Yehey," singer Rico J. Puno.

"Alam mo kung bakit ako naiiyak [sa pag-iwan mo sa amin]? Biruin mo, kasama mo Tito Vic and Joey. Tapos kasama mo ngayon si Rico Puno? Nasaan ang kahihiyan mo?" he said.

He quickly added, "Hindi, joke lang 'yun. Pareng Rico, hindi, hindi. Mabait 'yun."

KC Concepcion confirms break-up with Piolo

KC Concepcion sheds tears after admitting on "The Buzz" that she and her boyfriend, actor Piolo Pascual, have already called it quits.

MANILA, Philippines – After evading the media for so long, television host KC Concepcion finally admitted that she and her boyfriend, actor Piolo Pascual, have called it quits.

In a taped interview with “The Buzz” aired on Sunday, Concepcion tearfully admitted that she and Pascual have parted ways.

Asked what was the reason for their break-up, Concepcion meaningfully said: “May mga hinahanap ako na napaka-basic lang na hanapin ng isang babae sa isang boyfriend, sa isang lalaki. Ayaw ko na siguro pumunta sa details kasi parang ayaw kong siraan siya.”

Concepcion said she came to a point when she felt that she has already given too much and she got tired of always trying to understand Pascual.

Concepcion, however, noted that it’s also partly her fault because she badly wanted their relationship to work.

“Kasalanan ko naman ito sa sarili ko, Tito Boy, kasi ginusto ko naman ‘to ‘di ba. Gusto ko ‘to eh ‘di ba? Kasalanan ko ito kasi pinaglaban ko pa eh. Ginusto ko eh. At saka sobra sobra talaga akong nagtiwala sobra,” she said while crying.

Concepcion said she learned a lot about herself in her relationship with Pascual, but she has come to realize that it won't just work anymore even if she has given him several chances to make things right.

She admitted she is mad right now but she refused to answer whether there is a third party.

Asked what she thinks is her shortcoming in their relationship, Concepcion said: “Masakit mang sabihin, hindi ako yung...siguro nag-fail din ako, dahil hindi ako yung kailangan niya sa buhay niya or hindi ako yung hinahanap niya sa buhay niya. And hindi ko mabigay sa kanya yung kailangan niya.”

While she declined to give a message to Pascual, Concepcion said she only has one wish, which is to find her one true love.

Meanwhile, Megastar Sharon Cuneta said she believes her daughter will get through her problem.

Cuneta also vowed to be by her daughter’s side every step of the way.

“It's not my relationship, they're adults na so they know how to handle what's coming their way. She's a strong girl, I think she knows now about the people she should value more now. If anything, this made KC and I closer than ever,” she told ABS-CBN News.
