Actress Bea Alonzo reveals she had to work hard at her craft so she could have enough money to help her family and maybe even earn a diploma.
In a taped interview for "The Buzz", Alonzo said she still wants to get a degree despite earning good money from showbiz.
"In the future, not now. I've always told everyone na baligtad lang ang process dito. Ang mga estudyante they are studying to be able to work in the future. Ako, I'm working to be able to study in the future kasi walang magpapaaral sa akin. So uunahin ko muna ang work bago ang studies," Alonzo said.
The actress, who skyrocketed to fame through her onscreen love team with John Lloyd Cruz, said she learned to be independent because she grew up living in different places without her mother.
"Kasi hindi ako nakatira sa mom ko. Hindi ako nakatira sa iisang bahay growing up, palipat-lipat. Kaya nasanay akong makisama at huwag i-bother ang mga kasama mo," she said.
Having a good work ethic also helped boost her career. The former "Betty La Fea" star said working at an early age is one of the reasons why she became more mature as an actress.
"At an early age masyadong malaking responsibilidad ang naibigay sa akin, yung tipong hindi ka pwedeng mapagod, hindi ka pwedeng magreklamo, parang nasanay. Magandang training din para sa akin," she said.
Now, after years of working hard, Alonzo shared that she pampered herself by getting her dream -- a condominium unit.
She also had a new mantra, which is to enjoy life.
"Kung dati masyadong careful ngayon siguro I try to enjoy life more. I try not to be careful but at the same time not naman reckless but not too careful kasi parang nami-miss ko na ang magagandang bagay sa buhay," she said
Alonzo is gearing up for her TV series "Guns and Roses" with Robin Padilla and shooting a movie with Prince of Comedy Vic Sotto.
